Jaisalmer Basin , Rajasthan, Western India

Jaisalmer Basin, Rajasthan is known for its spectacular outcrops and scintillating landscapes.

It presents an ideal setting to understand the subtle variations in depositional environment and its effect on sequences within Jurassic. The system transits from clastic (fluvial, tidal) to continental and has a rich assemblage of fossils and ichnofossils.

This 3 day field visit provides an ideal opportunity to learn outcrop based sequence stratigraphy

10th – 12th September Visit to sites of Geological Interest at Lathi, Badabagh, Kuldhar, Rupsi, Bhadasar, Pariwar & Tanot
Field Faculty

Dr Bhawani Singh G Desai, Associate Professor at School of Petroleum Technology, PDPU Gandhinagar; an expert in ichnofacies – sedimentology based depositional environment reconstruction and sequence stratigraphy will guide the field excursion.
